Linus' Christmas

Hey Everyone!  

I pray that you all had a wonderful Christmas spent with family and friends.  I realize that this can be a difficult time for some of you but I truly hope that you were able to experience the magic of the season!  

I am back today to share with you a card that I was asked to make for a friend of mine for her husband.  I am always very excited to design cards for her to give because they are never your normal  cards.  This time she asked if I could make a Christmas card with Linus on it.  

Not owning any Peanut stamps I took my hunt to the internet where I was able to find this adorable colouring page image, and it was perfect for me to add my own stamp to. I then started with sizing the image and then I covered it in Rubber Cement so that I could stamp the Christmas tree behind Linus and Snoopy. 

I couldn't be more thrilled with how this card turned out.  It is so cute and I really hope that her husband loved his card!

Supplies Used

Paper Trimmer - used to cut the layers of paper for this card.

Double Sided Tape - used to attach the other layers to the card

Ranger Matte Medium - used to attach the snowflakes to the card

Bone Folder - used to fold the card base and crease the fold of the card

Tim Holtz Scissors - used to trim the ribbon

Rubber Cement - used to cover the image to prevent the tree from stamping ontop of the image

Paint Brush - used to put the rubber cement over the image

Adhesive Eraser - used to help remove the rubber cement without damaging the card

Prisma  Colour Pencil Crayons - used to colour in the image

Acrylic Block - used to attach the sentiment to and help to stamp it

MFT Black Ink  - used to stamp the tree and the sentiment in

Stamping Bella - the sentiment used on this card came from this stamp set

Inkadinkado Christmas Tree Stamp - used to stamp behind Linus and Snoopy - not able to locate a source for this tree though.

Cuttle Bug - machine used with the dies to cut out the snowflakes

Snowflake Dies - used with the Cuttlebug to cut out the snowflakes

Tweezers - used to help with the positioning of the snowflakes on the card front

Kiwi Ribbon - used for the ribbon and the bow on this card

Gold Wink of Stella - used to colour in the star at the top of the tree

Stardust Pens (Red and Green) - used on the sentiment to colour the letters and give them some shimmer

Gold Gems- used for the centres of the snowflakes

Plaid Red Paper - used for the mat around the image - cannot find the exact paper so I've linked to something similar

Blue Snowflake Paper - used for the background - this paper is out of All Seasons II paper pack which can be purchased at Hobby Lobby

White Paper - used for the card base as well as the paper that the main image and sentiment is stamped on

Watercoloured Thank You

Hey Everyone.  I am so happy to be able to share this with all of you.  I have been working on several orders over the past couple months, and I wanted to share another card(s) that is part of a couple of the orders.

I have had an obsession recently with water colours.  My bedding in my room is water coloured, my new planner cover is water coloured, I just love the look of it, so I needed to play with some colours for these cards.

I haven't used an embossing folder for quite some time, so thought that I would use one of them for the card base for this cards.

I used a very similar technique for both cards, but got a totally different look for each card.

Im going to walk you through the thought process behind each card.

For the first card.  I smooched 5 colours of Distress ink on my craft mat and smooched the paper into it after adding water to the ink, and once it was embossed with my cuttlebug.  I wasn't very careful about where the ink was ending up, and it initially looked like a huge mess, however once I added the embellishments and wording it looked awesome.

For the second card.  I smooched the same colours onto my craft mat and added water to them, however this time with a piece of plastic transparency I picked up each colour and gently placed it onto the embossed card stock.  I was careful about positioning and wanted it to mostly be ontop of the medallions and not inside the white spaces.  I positioned the colours on the paper beside colours that I believed they would blend well with in order to avoid a huge mess of colours that don't blend well together.  I love how this ended up looking too.

Here's a picture of both cards together, so that you can see how both techniques looked very similar however, gave me slightly different looks and ended up creating 2 beautiful cards...

Distress Ink - used for the ink used for the background - used a smooshing technique to move the ink
Tweezers - used to help with the positioning of all the elements.
Shimmer Spray - used on the Gerbra Daisy to give it some shimmer
Close to my Heart Boarders - used for the boarder along the left hand side of the cards
White Cardstock Paper - used for the card base and the background
Pink Paper, Teal Paper, Green Paper, Yellow Paper, Purple Paper (light), Purple Paper (dark) - all from my scraps so I don't have any links for them, however any coloured paper would work for this.

Christmas Card Challenges #2

Hey Everyone I am so happy to be back with you again.  With Christmas just around the corner I haven't been on here that often and for that I truly do apologize.  I will do my best to get at least another card posted this week, but I make no promises.  I hope that you are all enjoying this beautiful season and that you are getting a chance to spend some time with your loved ones and friends.  

This week the challenge at Christmas Card Challenges is a photo challenge.

For this challenge I tossed around the idea of 2 images that I had that I knew would work perfectly for this.  I finally settled on one and decided that I was going to make this card in Non-traditional colours.  For those of you who follow my blog you can see that I usually LOVE to stick to traditional colours, but I thought changing it up would be a challenge for myself too.  

I started with colouring the image, and then selected pattern papers to go along with it.  I also figured out the card layout after choosing the pattern papers.

Powder Tool -  used to prevent the embossing powder to sticking to undesired places
Clear Embossing Ink - used to stamp the sentiment in
Heat Tool - used to melt the embossing powder for the sentiment
White Cardstock - used for the card base
Watercolour Paper - paper that the image is stamped on to help with colouring

Christmas Card Challenges #1

Hey Everyone!  

It is my most favourite Month of the entire year, and I am so excited to start it off with this...

This is quite possibly the most exciting post that I have done to date...well next to announcing my acceptance to this Blog's Design Team.  

Today is my first Challenge with them, and I couldn't be more excited to be on their team alongside so many amazingly talented women.

This weeks challenge is:

There are a could stamps that came to mind immediately upon seeing this, however I consulted my Stamp book (sort of like a catalog of all the stamps that I own).  To my surprise there was a new stamp that I had never used in there that was perfect for this card, and I had so much fun playing and designing this card.

For those of you that are new to my blog I generally start with an image, and then I find pattern paper to match, and then I colour the image to match the papers.  For this card I did things slightly backwards...I started with selecting the stamp, and then I got so excited that I just started colouring, and luckily was able to find paper after to match this card perfectly.  Thankfully it worked in my favour this time, sometimes however I am not quite as lucky.
